Designer Bracelets – A Quick Guide

The word “designer” to the world of fashion is akin to the word “gourmet” in food. It speaks of quality and value. Yet no matter who designed the bracelet, designer bracelets do have a limited number of forms:

The cuff style. These are the solid types of designer bracelets that will remind one of handcuffs, commonly made of silver, gold, platinum, titanium, and pretty recently, tungsten carbide. Designer bracelets of this type can have engravings, or may be studded with precious or semi-precious stones.

If this type of bracelet is made from metal, then it can be engraved. When picking one out, be sure that it’s a perfect fit since they usually can’t be adjusted, especially those that are made of tungsten carbide and titanium. There are some cuff bracelets that has lock and key, which is part of the design.

The chain. For this type of bracelet, it has connected links that make it more adjustable. These are usually made of metal, as well. Some chain designer bracelets have a block of solid plate which can be engraved with the owner’s name, initials, or even a phrase. With the links, they can be interspersed with stones, beads, or other metals. Depending on your taste, the bracelet can be chunky or delicate.

The Charm Bracelet. This is the designer bracelet that truly tells something about the wearer. They are usually chain-type bracelets, but have small trinkets or “charms” attached to it. Depending on the lifestyle, tastes, and hobbies of the wearer, these charms can be pretty much anything. A lot of shops offer ready-made trinkets, but if you’re one that has an unusual hobby, such as bird watching, you can have custom-made charms of your favorite birds. Some makers even offer these designer bracelets with attachments, so that you can add or take off charms whenever you feel like it.

The bead. These designer bracelets are made up of a series of beads, which could be semi-precious stones, glass, or crystal beads and soft stones. They are then tied together with materials like an elastic band or metal chain. This is probably the most colorful of all designer bracelets since it can contain every color. Take for example a “lampwork” of glass beads; it can have a rainbow of colors.
