Bracelets And Beautiful Bangles For Each Special Occasion
Posted by: | CommentsWhat do we humans do that no other species on earth does? We wear jewelry and we wear clothes. No other animal does those things. We always have done it, too. Anthropologists have found ancient skeletons still wearing their bracelets and necklaces. This goes back to the time when we first figured out how to make tools.
It may sound silly, but maybe it is because we have a deep sense of insecurity as a species. Being without fur, we are inherently vulnerable. In order to survive, we adapted by becoming clever. That is something we are very proud of as a species, but maybe it actually shouldn’t be. After all, we became clever because we lacked something other animals had.
Be that as it may, it is a fact that humans wear adornments. We do this for a variety of reasons, one of them being to identify ourselves as part of a tribe. It may not seem that way in our Western societies, because we have so many styles to choose from. But if you think about it, it is as true of us as it is for smaller indigenous societies.
Why do we choose the clothing and jewelry that we wear? We do it because we want to be identified with a smaller group. We need to do that: the whole of society is just too big to identify with. In order to feel like we have a tribal home, we adorn ourselves with clothes and jewelry that identifies us with goths or New York attorneys or whatever other subculture we identify with.
We also choose our adornments according to occasions. That, too, has tribal origins. Indigenous peoples wear certain makeup and jewelry including a necklace for going to war, for religious ceremonies and for births and funerals, among other things. We choose our bangles according to whether we’re going out on the town, to work or to a Christmas party.
Of course, our adornments are also symbolic of our stature in our community. A utilitarian straw hat suggests that the wearer is a laborer. A top hat, though not in vogue today, symbolized a man of superior social stature. There is nothing whatsoever utilitarian about a top hat. It just makes a man stand out in a crowd.
Aside from all the deeper inclinations of personal adornments, there is the personal factor. We like to express our individuality, too. That’s why there are so many styles of jewelry to choose from. While we may be part of a group, we are individuals, too.

She Sported The Most Stunning Pendants
Posted by: | CommentsIt was a normal day for me. I was waiting for the waitress when I saw a lady enter the restaurant. I did not want to look away. She had on the most magnificent pendants, I think it was they way they blended perfectly with her blouse. There was something very special about her jewelry and I wanted to look more. But as quickly as she appeared, she disappeared. She had already passed my table.
Her date followed perhaps a bit too closely. No doubt he did not want to take a chance that another might stop her. It was easy to see that he was proud to be at her side. She did have presence. He passed but it was her image I kept in my memory. Everything about her was perfectly in place. The complete outfit matched perfectly. Each piece was tasteful and stylish. She was a lovely vision in shades of purple and pink, and her jewelry set it off perfectly.
I remember thinking how flawless her outfit was. It was nothing overly expensive but the look was so refined and elegant. She must have spent weeks preparing that ensemble.
Not only did she put together a perfect outfit, but she had done it in the hardest combination of colors. Purples and pinks are not easy to work with. Most women would never even try. Yet, this woman had completely pulled it off. She pulled off something else too, but I was not sure what.
The way those pendants looked was amazing. They were the very first thing I noticed and It was hard to look away. Somehow, I knew this lady knew what she was doing. She knew something. And then I realized what it was.
The woman did not have an especially attractive face or body. As a matter-of-fact, she was taller tan average and had a belly that protruded more than average. It was the pendant that distracted me. Her magical pendant was leading the eye away from her problem features. Her beautiful pendant had become the focal point of her person. Her exquisite ornament had become a freshly frosted round cake that was now resting on a otherwise lonely cake plate.
She had kept me from realizing her true height, and she had kept me from noticing her belly! She had used the pendants as a clever ornament to present her package. What a terrific secret. Are these the powers of the pendant?

Psychologists tell us that it is necessary for our psychological well being to feel that we are part of a group or tribe. We are missing something if we feel either isolated from the rest of society or are lost in the crowd. Therefore, we instinctively align ourselves with a subculture. Some of us may be gothics and wear the appropriate goth jewelry. Others of us may be part of office culture and wear a suit and tie.
Another thing that compels us to wear specific adornments is the special occasion. We wear one kind of clothes for dating, another kind for working and yet another for going to war. There is also appropriate jewelry such as a necklace and makeup for every occasion. This is exactly what our prehistoric forefathers did, too. There is nothing new about it.
Why else do we adorn ourselves? While a simple straw hat may be entirely utilitarian in nature, it also reflects our status or role in our community. There is nothing utilitarian about a top hat, though. The top hat is simply a symbol of status. Literally and figuratively, it shows that a man “stands above” others in society.
